15 Scottish Gins we recommend. The Scotsman

SCOTTISH gin is undergoing a massive revival at the moment, fuelled in part by the boom in small craft distilleries and by the arrival of whisky companies into the gin market. The flexibility of the recipes and relative simplicity of its production makes gin the perfect spirit for those looking to create and sell their own brand. Like an enlightened version of the gin craze era, craft gin distilleries are popping up all across the UK as well as globally. However, it’s those gin distilleries in our little corner of the world that are making some big. See The Scotsman gin recommendation.

“Gin is the new fashionable thing. The gin industry is booming like never before with fifteen new distilleries opening in 2014 alone and gin sales jumping by 18% during 2015. More than just a revival, gin has been reborn with vigour and there is no way back.

New gin bars, new gin events, new gin specialists, new brands, new gin review websites, anywhere that is well respected will have at least a few extra brand options for the gin lover these days. Great bars and restaurants are launching gin menus as well as quite a few new exciting gin cocktails”. PHOTO AND QUOTE BY LUXURYSCOTLAND.CO.UK

“Managing Director Mike Lord said, “We wanted to do something different to add to our exclusive products celebrating our 10th anniversary year. I have been developing my own gin recipe for almost 2 years and the opportunity finally came to get it produced with our friends at Shetland Reel as part of our 10 Year Anniversary. It’s Juniper led with citrus notes and sweet gentle spices from Pink and Szechuan peppercorns. It is a bit of a push back against the many floral gins that our out there. It is for people that really like a flavoursome classic gin.” (Dufftown Whisky Shop)

The Botanist.

One of my favourites. I remember reading about the time-consuming process of hand foraging the local ingredients on one of my favourite Isles, Islay.  The Botanist perhaps prepared the way for todays resurgence of crafted gins…in their own words “is a rare expression of the heart and soul of our remote Scottish island home”.
