The kitchen was fully renovated in 2015 to utilise the space and to incorporate a family kitchen and dining room into the cottage. This room is the heart of Glenarder, used for family dinners, evenings with friends and many a Sunday afternoon just enjoying cooking together.
The kitchen units were supplied by Devol Kitchens who specialize in simplicity and craft. The hand painted doors and solid wood interiors provides a warmth and modernity to this farmhouse kitchen. The countertops are an arctic white siltstone with an inset Butlers sink. centering the room is off course an old oak farmhouse table. Our table has literally travelled around the world with us – it has seen a lot of homework, cookies after school with friends, everyday dinners and special celebrations. My favourite new edition to our kitchen life is the free-standing Devol pantry cabinet – you will find most essential kitchen basics in here … all those little things like salt, sugar, spices, vinegar etc.
We have tried to keep the space simple yet provide everything you need for memorable times together. You will find essential appliances such as a new gas range cooker, dishwasher, bean-to-coffee coffee maker as well as the usual small appliances.
The kitchen has a window viewing the garden and Allte Arder glen. This window ledge has become my favourite working place in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the sun come up and the birds at the bird feeder. Very often you can see Roe Deer come right up to our fence early in the morning, sometimes our resident pheasant couple hop over the fence into the garden, and if your very lucky you will see the Pine Martin scamper along the fence.
